A possible partnership between the City of Shelbyville and the Boys and Girls Club of Shelbyville to privatize a portion of the city’s oldest park appears to be off the table.
The public forums much debated the initial idea involving 115-year-old Morrison Park and its neighbor, the Boys and Girls Club of Shelbyville. The club’s expansion or growth into the park was prompted by being surrounded by residential neighborhoods on three of its four sides.
Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson says discussion never turned into a definitive proposal. Then, the death of the club’s director Scott Spahr proved to be a painful factor.
The mayor notes that the conversation could come up again. But, for now, it appears closed.
