Plymouth Police make 2 early morning arrests on Tuesday on driving charges

Plymouth Police made two arrests in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 18th, just minutes apart, after separate traffic stops led to charges of driving without a license and operating while intoxicated.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., Corporal Baker was conducting routine patrol when a vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and nearly collided with the officer's patrol vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted at Walnut and Adams Streets. The driver, Gerardo Contreras Rivera, 42, of Plymouth, was found to have never obtained a driver's license. Contreras Rivera was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked for operating a motor vehicle without ever obtaining a license, with a prior.

Just 13 minutes later, at 1:13 a.m., Officer Ayala made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on North Michigan Street at North Street. A DUI investigation was initiated on the driver, 20-year-old Jaslin A. Cerrato Turcios of Plymouth. A search warrant affidavit was subsequently filed and approved. Cerrato Turcios was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked for OWI and OWI-endangerment.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
