Plymouth Park Board approves 3 community requests at Monday meeting

Members of the Plymouth Park Board approved three community requests at their Monday evening meeting, granting facility use and a donation in support of upcoming local events.

The first request came from Anna Corbett, Community Relations Director of Miller's Senior Living, who was granted free use of the Young Amphitheater and a portion of the Greenway Trail for a walk-a-thon fundraiser. Miller's Senior Living will be hosting the second annual walk-a-thon benefiting Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana on Saturday, August 15th. Setup is planned for 7:30 a.m., with registration open until the walk officially begins at 9:00 a.m.

The second request was brought forward by Kayla Pittman on behalf of the Delta Theta Tau, Zeta Zeta Chapter of Plymouth. The Park Board approved the donation of a Family Pool Pass for the 2027 season, which will be used as a raffle or silent auction item at the second annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk/Run on October 4th. Pittman, whose youngest son has Down syndrome, said proceeds from the event will benefit individuals with special needs through Special Olympics and Brantley's Believers. The Park Board had previously granted Pittman permission to use Centennial Park facilities for the walk/run earlier this year.

The third and final request was presented by Hannah DeMont, Executive Director of the Marshall County Humane Society. The shelter was granted free use of the Freyman Pavilion at Centennial Park for its "Bark in the Dark" event on Friday, October 9th. The event is set to begin at 7:30 p.m., with shelter staff and volunteers beginning setup at 6:00 p.m.
