A Plymouth police officer served two separate warrants within 20 minutes on Thursday afternoon, taking both individuals into custody without incident.
At approximately 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department responded to the 500 block of South Michigan Street to serve a no-bond warrant on 33-year-old Matthew O'Brien of Plymouth for failure to appear. As the officer arrived at the residence, O'Brien was spotted walking on the sidewalk outside. He was taken into custody without issue and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on the warrant.
Just 20 minutes later, at 5:25 p.m., Officer Fisher proceeded to the 900 block of North Michigan Street to serve a $500 cash bond warrant on 38-year-old Kevin Walters of Plymouth. The warrant stemmed from a dog bite liability charge resulting in bodily injury. The officer located Walters behind his residence near his vehicle. Walters was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Marshall County Jail.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
