Plymouth man killed in golf cart crash Nnear Pretty Lake Golf Club

A 64-year-old Plymouth man died early Sunday morning after the golf cart he was driving went off an embankment and onto a parking lot near the Pretty Lake Golf Club.

According to the Marshall County Coroner's Office, the initial 911 call was received at 12:56 a.m. on Sunday, August 16th. The Coroner's Office was then notified of the death at 10055 Pretty Lake Trail in Plymouth at approximately 1:09 a.m.

An investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department determined that James Galt Jr., 64, of Plymouth, had left the Pretty Lake Golf Club driving a golf cart when he drove the cart off an embankment onto an asphalt parking lot. Galt was pronounced deceased at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner John Lampkins from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

Responding agencies included the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, the Marshall County Coroner's Office, and the Plymouth Fire Department.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office will release additional information if it becomes available.
