Plymouth High School honors local heroes at annual Veterans Day convocation

Plymouth High School (PHS) proudly hosted its annual Veterans Day Convocation on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, bringing together students, staff, and community members to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

The morning began with a breakfast for veterans and their guests, prepared by the PHS Cafeteria and served by PHS Class Officers. Guests were welcomed with live music from the PHS Orchestra and coffee generously donated by Biggby Coffee.

Following breakfast, attendees gathered in the Varsity Gym for the formal convocation led by PHS Student Government members. The program featured heartfelt student introductions, musical performances by the PHS Crimson Choir, Band, and Color Guard, and moments of reflection honoring the courage and sacrifice of veterans across all branches of the military.

Captain Matthew Emenhiser, U.S. Army, and Assistant Chief of Police with the Plymouth Police Department delivered this year’s keynote address. Captain Emenhiser shared his personal experiences of service, leadership, and community, encouraging students to value the freedoms veterans have helped preserve.

The program also included remarks from Former Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter, a longtime supporter of the PHS Veterans Day tradition, as well as a moving wreath-laying ceremony led by PHS alumnus and U.S. Marine Kasper Morgan. The morning concluded with the solemn playing of “Taps” in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

PHS extends its deepest gratitude to all who made this year’s event possible — including Biggby Coffee, the PHS Cafeteria staff, and the music department directors and students — and most importantly, to the veterans who joined in celebration and remembrance.

“This event continues to be one of our most meaningful traditions,” said PHS Principal Jake Singleton. “It’s an opportunity for our students to express gratitude and learn the true meaning of service and sacrifice.”
