The Plymouth Common Council heard the first reading of an amendment to the current trash removal ordinance at its October 27th meeting. The amendment will be considered for second and third reading at the city meeting on Monday, November 10th.
The City has been providing garbage removal service to city residents through a contract with Republic Services of Culver.
The City and Republic Services have negotiated a contract extension, effective November 1, 2025, and ending October 31, 2030, with annual increases in the fees charged to the City. The purpose of the ordinance is to increase garbage removal fees for residents and businesses, so they reflect the actual costs the City pays Republic, including administrative expenses for garbage services.
The monthly fees for residential or apartment units will increase from $19.88 to $21.46, and commercial customers will increase from $39.80 to $43.00 starting in November.
Beginning November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2027, residential rates will increase to $22.04, and commercial users will increase to $44.22.
November 1, 2027, through October 31, 2028, Customers $22.64 and commercial $45.50.
November 1, 2028, through October 31, 2029, residential $23.26 and commercial $46.80.
November 1, 2029, through October 31, 2030, residential $23.90 and commercial $48.14.
