City Engineer Dan Sellers provided members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety with an update on this summer’s sidewalk projects. The city engineer reminded them that American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds were used to pay for the work.
The original contract was $330,861 and is substantially complete. Sellers said that some restoration work in the disturbed areas is yet to be completed. ‘
The engineer has been negotiating with the contractor, Phend and Brown, on quantities. He mentioned there were overages and underages on estimated quantities. Phend and Brown are requesting additional funds for driveway modifications. The net change order amounted to an extra $2,323.75, bringing the total cost to $333,184.75.
Sellers said the contractor was also requesting a 7-day extension to finish the work.
The city engineer said the work they have completed has been done very well and recommended approval of a change order for the sidewalk project to cover the additional cost and days.
Board of Works member Don Ecker said, “This is a no-brainer to me. It’s 1% of the total cost.”
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said they have additional funds available to cover the change order.
