Perry arrested for PI & disorderly conduct, Guzman-Santiz arrested for driving without a license

Plymouth Police made two arrests within a span of three days last week, according to reports from the department.

On Thursday, May 28, officers were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. to the Neighborhood Center at 402 West Garro Street in response to a report of a female causing a disturbance and believed to be under the influence of an illegal substance.

Officers located the woman, identified as 31-year-old Jasmine Perry of Plymouth, at the corner of Garro and Walnut Streets, where she was detained. Due to her continued behavior and signs consistent with intoxication by illegal drugs, Perry was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Her cash bond was set at $500.

Two days later, on Saturday evening, May 30, Plymouth Police Officer Witkowski observed a vehicle traveling well below the posted speed limit on North Michigan Street near Hoham Drive shortly after 10 p.m. The vehicle was paced at 29 mph in a 40 mph zone, impeding the flow of traffic.

Officer Witkowski conducted a traffic stop and determined that the driver, identified as Lorenzo Guzman-Santiz, 36, of Grovertown, had never obtained a valid driver's license. Guzman-Santiz was placed under arrest and booked into the Marshall County Jail.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
