With the position now vacant, Parke County will begin the search for a new County Highway Superintendent.
The Parke County Board of Commissioners announced the termination of Luke James Moody, the County Highway Superintendent, following their Monday session.
The decision comes after an internal investigation into Moody’s October 15 arrest for domestic battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
In their official statement, the Board of Commissioners emphasized that the decision was made “in the best interest of both parties” and clarified that it does not imply any judgment regarding Moody’s guilt or innocence. The commissioners met in executive session before voting in an open public meeting to end their professional relationship with Moody.
