A pair of traffic stops this week by the Parke County Sheriff's Department resulted in the arrests of two individuals and drugs being taken off the streets.
On Nov. 5, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for not having a license plate on County Road 700 West in Howard. The driver, Jeffery Ricketts, 61, Kingman, refused to stop initially, accelerating and attempting to flee officers. He finally pulled over a short time later and was arrested and booked on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Law Enforcement.

In the second incident, deputies observed a vehicle losing scrap metal all over the road way shortly after midnight on Nov. 6.
A stop was initiated at U.S. 36 and Cooke Road. The driver, Stacey, Carver, 56, Mecca, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. He was facing a $10,000 bond.
