The Knox County (Ind.) Commissioners have approved an economic development agreement (EDA) for a new solar energy project.
Lucky Point Solar will construct a 140-megawatt plant at a location in the southern part of the county. Work is expected to begin at the site in December of 2028 and be completed in approximately 1 year.
The EDA calls for a 75% tax abatement over a ten-year period from the county. In exchange, Lucky Point Solar will make payments of $4 million to the county in the first year of the agreement and $5.8 million in the remaining years. Other terms of the agreement cover facility setbacks, soil and erosion conditions and controls, and a Monday through Saturday work schedule, except for emergencies.
