Multiple arrests in child exploitation operation

Members of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Greenfield Police Department, Westfield Police Department, and the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a coordinated operation targeting individuals who use the internet to exploit children.

These proactive investigations are part of an ongoing effort that began in 2019 to identify and arrest online child predators. Through strong partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, including the Franklin Police Department, Johnson County has conducted multiple child-solicitation operations aimed at protecting children and holding offenders accountable.

Since the inception of these operations, Johnson County has conducted multiple large-scale enforcement efforts resulting in significant arrests:

• 2022: 30 arrests during a single operation
• April 2023: 33 arrests in a multi-agency operation
• November 2023: 21 arrests during a three-day operation
• September 2024: 22 arrests in a later operation
• April 2026: 19 arrests in this current operation

In total:

• At least six operations conducted between 2019–2023
• Approximately 100 arrests during those first six operations
• Additional arrests made in continued operations beyond 2023

These numbers continue to grow as enforcement efforts remain active and ongoing.

These investigations consistently demonstrate that offenders come from all walks of life and represent a wide range of professions. Many suspects attempt to minimize their actions after arrest by claiming it was their first time or that they had no intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and its law enforcement partners remain committed to aggressively pursuing those who seek to exploit children. These operations send a clear message: individuals who target children online will be identified and held accountable.
