Marshall-Starke Special Olympics is currently winding down and finishing up its very first basketball season. Basketball practices are held at Culver Community High School. This year they have had two teams and a total of 14 athletes ranging from ages 10-62.
Marshall-Starke Special Olympics has some very exciting news to share! Both teams are going to the state to compete for the GOLD! The Firecats, the 3-on-3 team, will be heading down this weekend, March 25 to the University of Indianapolis. The 5-on-5 team, the Wildcats, will be headed down to the Pacers Athletic Complex on the April 1st weekend. They are hoping to come back with a medal around their necks, but more importantly, they just want to have fun, and they certainly will do just that!
Do you want to be part of the hype? They need potential athletes and volunteers.
After basketball, Marshall-Starke Special Olympics is going straight into Bowling, Swimming, and Track. These events are all part of the Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games.
We are currently reaching out to attain more athletes and volunteers! Athletes and volunteers must be at least 8 years old. Signups are happening now! There will be a Spring/Summer Signups/ Q&A session at the Starke County Public Library on March 28 from 5-7 pm CT. Please call 574-935-0513 or email marshallstarkeso@gmail.com with any questions.
