Marshall County Sheriff releases June 2026 Jail and Department Report

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel released the June 2026 Jail and Sheriff's Department Report on Friday, offering a detailed look at arrest activity, jail population, and law enforcement operations throughout the county last month.

According to the report, Operating While Intoxicated led all offenses with 26 arrests, making it the most common reason for being booked into the Marshall County Jail in June. Operator Never Licensed came in second with 22 arrests, followed closely by Driving While Suspended with 21 arrests. Possession of Marijuana appeared twice in the top ten, ranking fourth with 19 arrests and sixth with 12 arrests. Failure to Appear was fifth with 13 arrests. Possession of Methamphetamine and Resisting Law Enforcement each resulted in 11 arrests, placing seventh and eighth respectively. Public Intoxication rounded out the list at ninth with 10 arrests, and Disorderly Conduct was tenth with 9 arrests.

The jail recorded a total of 179 bookings in June. Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department led all agencies with 78 arrests, followed by Plymouth Police Department officers with 72 arrests. Culver Police contributed 8 arrests, Bremen Police made 5, Indiana State Police Troopers made 5, Bourbon Police recorded 4, Argos Police made 3, and the DNR accounted for 3 arrests. Community Corrections made 1 arrest.

On county day, July 28th, the Marshall County Jail housed 127 inmates — 98 males and 29 females. Of those, 1 inmate was serving time on misdemeanor charges and 21 on felony charges. An additional 79 were being held pre-trial, 17 were awaiting arraignment, 3 were being held on behalf of another agency, and 2 were on court order holds.

The average daily jail population in June was 119. That figure represents a decline from six months prior, when the average daily population stood at 124, and a notable drop from one year ago, when the average was 142.

Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies investigated 68 accidents in June, including 57 property damage accidents and 11 personal injury accidents. Deputies initiated 65 case reports, issued 38 warnings or traffic citations, and conducted 17 security checks. A total of 1,323 active warrants were on file at the jail.

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center answered 6,153 calls in June. Of those, 1,375 were 911 calls, which were answered in 10 seconds or less at a rate of 99.56 percent. The Sheriff's Department also responded to 1,314 calls for service during the month.
