Marshall County EMA update on weather conditions

Marshall County remains under a Travel Watch, effective immediately, due to persistent hazardous road conditions.

Current Conditions & Immediate Outlook:

• Plowing Efforts: Highway Department crews are actively plowing, but strong winds continue to cause significant blowing and drifting snow, negating some clearing efforts and maintaining dangerous travel.
• Additional Snow Today: An additional 1 to 3 inches of lake effect snow is possible throughout the day today.
• Scattered Lake Effect Snow: Expect numerous scattered lake effect snow showers this afternoon into early evening. While accumulations will generally be light (less than an inch), below-freezing temperatures and gusty southwest winds up to 30 mph will significantly reduce visibility and create patchy blowing snow, especially during heavier showers. Roads may become slick.

• Monday Evening Snow: Another few inches of snow are possible Monday evening, which could disrupt Tuesday morning's commute. We are closely monitoring this developing situation.
• Travel Watch Duration: The Travel Watch will remain in effect until conditions significantly improve. There is currently no timetable for a downgrade to a lower travel advisory.

• Essential Travel Only: Only essential travel, such as to and from work or for emergencies, is recommended. Non-essential travel should be avoided.
