A routine trespassing complaint on the north side of Marshall County Friday morning led to the arrest of a Leesburg man after deputies discovered the vehicle in his possession had been reported stolen out of Michigan.
Marshall County Sheriff's deputies responded at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Friday, July 17th, to the 7000 block of Tulip Road for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the property owner and the suspected trespasser, identified as Kassidy Phipps, 39, of Leesburg.
During the investigation, deputies determined that a vehicle in Phipps's possession had been reported stolen out of Michigan. Deputies also discovered that Phipps had an active warrant through Fulton County.
Phipps was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a charge of theft, a Level 6 Felony. Bond was set at $1,500. The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
