Extremely dry conditions across the area has led to the imposition of a burn ban in Lawrence County, Ill. The county fire chiefs (Lawrence-Allison, Bridgeport, Denison and Christy Fire Protection Districts) announced Wednesday they have issued the ban on outdoor burning until further notice. The decision was made due to the potential for flash fires to occur. Lawrence County has been rated as 75% abnormally dry according to the latest Illinois drought monitor with below normal rainfall and no substantial rainfall in the forecast. The burn ban does have one exception-a campfire in an approved fire ring.
