Two solar energy projects are moving forward in Lawrence County after action taken by the county board Wednesday.
The board unanimously approved the projects by Solar Stone Development. Site plans have been submitted, and the required permit fees have been paid for a location in Bond Township, south of Pinkstaff, and a location in Christy Township, east of Sumner.
The board also accepted the resignation effective in June of Bill Powell as a trustee of the Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District (LAFPD). The county Emergency Management Agency (EMA) committee will meet to accept applications for the vacancy and conduct interviews with candidates before making a recommendation to the full board. Application information is available at the LAFPD Facebook page.
Three Ambraw River Drainage District commissioners were reappointed to three-year terms. They are Andrew Crawford, David Williams and Thomas Weger.
A resolution of support for $5700 was given to the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission and a safety grant check was received by the Lawrence County Ambulance Service for $10,000 to be used to acquire power lifts for the ambulance fleet.
