Drivers traveling on U.S. 30 between Oak Road and Plymouth-Goshen Road should plan for lane restrictions beginning on or after Tuesday, May 26th, as Indiana Department of Transportation contractor LaPorte Construction Company begins bridge deck overlay work in the area.
During construction, U.S. 30 will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The project will be completed in two phases. During Phase One, westbound U.S. 30 will be closed for construction, and the eastbound lanes will be converted to two-way traffic. The ramp from State Road 17 to westbound U.S. 30 will also be closed during this phase. Drivers needing to head westbound are asked to follow the detour, which routes traffic eastbound on U.S. 30 to the U.S. 31 interchange to turn around.
Phase One is expected to remain in effect through late August. Phase Two is anticipated to begin in mid-September and will shift construction activity to the eastbound lanes, with work continuing through late November. Bridge deck overlays will be conducted at both Western Avenue and Baker Ditch.
Additionally, Western Avenue remains closed between Skylane Drive and Pilgrim Lane beneath U.S. 30 for separate bridge beam repairs, with that closure expected to continue through mid-June.
INDOT is encouraging motorists to allow extra travel time through the construction zone, follow all posted traffic directions, slow down, and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
