Knox man arrested for operating while intoxicated after series of suspicious vehicle reports

A 40-year-old Knox man was arrested for operating while intoxicated on Friday, September 4th, after Marshall County officers responded to multiple reports of a suspicious vehicle over the course of the evening.

At 8:49 p.m., Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call from the 20,000 block of 9th Road. The reporting party advised that a suspicious person was in a vehicle in a driveway on his property. He described the vehicle as a white pickup truck with a yellow light on top, and said the male occupant was barefoot and shirtless. Due to a high volume of calls at the time, officers were delayed in responding and were unable to locate the truck.

At 9:28 p.m., dispatch received another report of the vehicle near a residence in the 11,000 block of Sage Trail. A few minutes later, the truck was reported driving south on Sage Trail. Officers again responded to the area but were unable to locate the truck.

At 10:59 p.m., a third call was received about the white truck, which was now stopped in the middle of the roadway on 14B Road, west of Nutmeg Road. Officers responded to the area and located the white truck with its sole occupant, later identified as Justin M. Singleton, 40, of Knox. The truck also appeared to have recent damage from hitting a tree.

While at the scene, officers observed probable cause of operating while intoxicated. Singleton was detained and transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment and certified testing. Upon arriving at the hospital, a certified test was conducted, which showed that Singleton had a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit of .08%.

After medical clearance, Singleton was transported to and lodged at the Marshall County Jail for operating while intoxicated. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

The Culver Police Department assisted at the scene of the incident.
