Indiana Conservation Officer Shane Cooper, a Knox County native, has been named the 2023 District 7 Officer of the Year. He has been a conservation officer since 2013 and studied conservation law and sociology at Vincennes University and later at the University of Southern Indiana at Evansville. District 7 in southwestern Indiana includes Knox, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Martin, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.
