The Knox County (Ind.) Commissioners have taken action to try and preserve county-maintained roads.
This week, they approved a 10-ton load limit on those roads for a seven-day period, beginning immediately. Signs will be posted on the affected roads. After a week, the situation will be re-accessed by the commissioners, and the load limit could be lifted or extended.
The reason given for the load limit is worry over whether the cycle of freezing and thawing weather conditions will soften the condition of the roads and possibly cause damages.
