Local organizations in Shelbyville are now hosting a new gaming opportunity.

The Indiana legislature passed Senate Bill 209 in 2025 to allow licensed charitable, fraternal, and veteran organizations to use electronic pull-tabs, expanding their charity gaming options beyond traditional paper pull-tabs, with machines requiring Indiana Gaming Commission approval and operating only at fixed locations.

The legislation, signed into law in June 2025, provides a new way for these groups to raise funds, though some concerns were raised about potential impacts on revenue and game operation.

John Schoentrup says the Knights of Columbus had their machines installed right after the start of the new year.

The K of C hopes the added attraction will be beneficial to current members and help to lead to new members, as well.

Shelbyville Eagle's #766 and American Legion Post #70 have also installed electronic pull-tabs.
