After two attempts to administer the Oath of Office to John Kaufmann during a Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, the process happened Thursday morning in City Hall.
Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski administered the oath to John Kaufmann in the Council Chambers of City Hall as Fire Chief Steve Holm, Assistant Chief Chuy Garcia and Mayor Robert Listenberger looked on.
Following the swearing-in process, the pinning ceremony takes place. The badge pinning ceremony is a tradition in the fire service that marks the introduction of new firefighters to their duties and to the department. During the ceremony, the badge is presented and typically a family member of the firefighter performs the pinning.
On Thursday, Kaufmann’s son Izsak pinned his father.
