Ivy Tech names Shelbyville resident Interim Chancellor for Columbus service area

Ivy Tech Community College has named Stephanie Amos as the Interim Chancellor for the College’s Columbus Service Area. Amos will assume this leadership role as Dr. Steven Combs, who was serving as the Ivy Tech Columbus Chancellor, transitions to serve as Interim Provost of Ivy Tech Community College.

Amos brings over 20 years of strategic leadership experience in financial operations, campus administration, and community engagement to her new role. Her extensive background positions her uniquely to guide Ivy Tech Columbus during this transitional period. Ivy Tech Columbus serves Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, and Shelby counties and includes campuses in Columbus, Franklin, and Shelbyville.

“As Interim Chancellor, I look forward to working closely with our faculty, staff, and community partners to ensure Ivy Tech Columbus continues to support student success and community impact,” Amos said. “Together, we can create opportunities that help our students achieve their academic and career goals, and we will continue to collaborate with our communities to build a highly skilled workforce.”

Most recently, Amos served as Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration for Ivy Tech Columbus. Her leadership included providing strategic financial counsel, managing operations across multiple departments and sites, and supporting academic program reviews.

Previously, Amos served as Vice Chancellor of Strategic Partnerships for Ivy Tech Columbus. Her earlier leadership positions, including Executive Director of Finance and Interim Executive Director of Workforce Alignment, span across multiple Ivy Tech campuses and underscore her consistent track record of operational excellence and dedication to student success.

A respected leader across the Ivy Tech system, Amos has contributed to several statewide initiatives and has led process improvement efforts for the Columbus Service Area.

“Stephanie’s extensive experience and commitment to Ivy Tech, its students, and our communities, make her an exceptional choice for this interim role,” Dr. Combs said. “I have no doubt that she will guide the Columbus Service Area with vision and determination during this important transition.”

Amos, a Shelbyville resident, holds a Master of Business Administration in organizational leadership from Ashford University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
