A former student at Indiana State University has been arrested after FBI agents investigated threats made toward school officials and local law enforcement.
The ISU alum Nicholas Wheeler made threats via X where he claimed staff at the University performed vile acts against him. The posts included threats against specific staff at the university.
One of the posts said “Save all my tweets. I'll be on the news in 72hours if I don't get my money. My professors paid someone 50k to have me raped and castrated in my apartment to make me unfit for flight. They even locked me out of the flight academy at Indiana state university.”
At least one person associated with the University received messages directly that contained similar messaging.
Police began investigating the incident and tracked Wheeler down in California using an emergency ping. After a wellness check was performed on Wheeler, agents arrested him and confiscated multiple guns. The charge against Wheeler is the Transmission of an Extortionate Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person. Wheeler was taken into custody to undergo a 72-hour assessment. He is scheduled for a psychological evaluation today and a hearing on Tuesday.
