Indiana Museum of Art purchases Logansport property

On Jan. 8, the Indiana Museum of Art announced that local private donors had made it possible for it to purchase of the former Eagles Lodge at 201 S. Sixth St., Logansport. Planning is underway for a public reception at Vibrant Event Center, 1100 Riverside Drive, Logansport. on Feb. 20. 

The Indiana Museum of Art announces that it has officially acquired property in downtown Logansport, marking a significant step toward the museum’s goal to enhance presence and accessibility to contemporary art across Indiana.

On Jan. 8, the IMA announced it had completed the purchase of the former Eagles Lodge at 201 S. Sixth St. in Logansport. IMA is dedicated to showcasing contemporary art and holding a platform for artist engagement and inspiration within local communities. Through exhibitions, educational programs and community partnerships, the IMA aims to inspire and enrich lives through the power of art.

A grant was awarded by the Cass County Community Foundation for the project to hire KJG Architecture of Lafayette to make exterior elevations and extensive renovations on the building exterior, interior and floor plans. IMA’s founders, Jason Myers and Andrew Miller, envisioned the project building IMA a new reputation throughout the Midwest while leveraging Myers' stature as an artist and his national and international relationships with artists, galleries and museums. Miller referred to the IMA project as a catalyst of what's to come in the future of economic development due its draw of visitors, artists and purchasing power to the community. 

The Logansport location has plans of being the host to a range of events, workshops and exhibitions by the IMA, opening a new window for local access to cultural experiences, creativity and unique dialogue. Construction costs for the renovations are expected to exceed $3 million and will be funded through grants and private donations. The building was purchased by local private donors. Planning is underway for a public reception at Vibrant Event Center, 1100 Riverside Drive in Logansport on Feb. 20.
