The Illinois Secretary of States Office is asking Lawrence County and other residents across the state to complete their routine driver and vehicle transactions online instead of in-person.

As many as 2,000 customers visit Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) facilities each day for services that could be taken care of more efficiently via their personal computers or other devices.

Use of those services continues to grow. During the first seven months of 2026, around 560,000 eligible driver's license and state ID transactions were completed online, up 43% from the same period last year. Online vehicle sticker renewals also increased from 2025 to 2026.

Lawrence County motorists are asked to check the Secretary of State's website before visiting a DMV location to determine whether their transaction can be handled online.
