The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning Lawrence County and other area residents that intense heat has returned to the region and will stay around for a few days.

A Heat Advisory has been issued from 1 p.m. CDT Monday, August 31st through 7 p.m. CDT Thursday, September 3rd. Hot temperatures will combine with high humidity levels to create heat index values from 100 to 105 degrees during the afternoon and evening hours during that time period.

Those who will be outside for lengthy periods of time are asked to use caution. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Stay out of the direct sunlight and try not to overexert. The outdoor conditions may cause heat illnesses.
