The Head Start program has announced that enrollment is now open for the upcoming school year for residents of Marshall and Starke Counties. This free preschool program provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and their families.
Head Start aims to foster stable family relationships, enhance children's physical and emotional well-being, and establish an environment to develop strong cognitive skills. We welcome all eligible families to apply and benefit from this transformative program designed to prepare young learners for future academic success.
The Head Start curriculum is designed to meet the educational needs of preschool-aged children, fostering a love for learning and school readiness. They provide health screenings, nutritious meals, and education on healthy habits to ensure every child is ready to learn and grow. Head Start also offers resources and opportunities for parental involvement to strengthen family bonds and support the overall development of the child.
There are eligibility requirements. Families must meet federal income guidelines and children must be aged 3 to 5 years old. SNAP-eligible, foster children, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance such as TANF or SSI are automatically eligible.
Interested families can apply online at: http://www.msdcin.org/child-services/ or by contacting the enrollment office at (574) 936-7885.
