Longtime former state representative and Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Chuck Hartke was honored posthumously by the Illinois General Assembly in the state capitol of Springfield this week.
Hartke passed away in April at the age of 80.
The Teutopolis native and farmer had a resolution introduced on the Illinois House floor recognizing his 18 years of service in the Illinois House and his tenure as Agriculture Director from 2003 through 2008. Lawrence County was one of the southeastern Illinois counties in Hartke's district.
Hartke's son, daughter, brother and sister were among the family members present for the ceremony.
