A Knox County Circuit Court jury reached a verdict following a two-day trial.
The jury on Wednesday found Jeffery Jackson, 33, of Vincennes, guilty of domestic battery in the presence of a child. The defendant then admitted he had a prior domestic battery conviction with the same victim.
Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan presented the State’s case. Carnahan says that these cases are difficult, especially when the survivor is unwilling to testify. Carnahan also says that in this case he had to put a 15-year-old child on the witness stand in order to tell the full story to the jury. Carnahan stressed his office’s commitment to ending domestic violence and thanked the jury for their service.
Sentencing is set for a date for September 29.
