East Chicago woman arrested by County Police for operating while intoxicated on U.S. 30

A woman from East Chicago was arrested early Sunday morning after Marshall County officers observed her vehicle swerving on U.S. 30, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

On August 30, at approximately 5:43 a.m., officers were patrolling U.S. 30 near U.S. 31 when they observed a vehicle swerving all over the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, Leslie Marie Montoya of East Chicago, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Montoya was taken to Plymouth Hospital for a certified test, which showed a blood alcohol concentration of .186. She was then booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle with a BAC higher than .15.

She was given a bond of $1,500.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Plymouth Police Department and Tim's Towing.
