A driver was arrested by Shelbyville police after leaving the scene of a collision with a parked car.
Shelbyville police report that a GMC Envoy was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Broadway Street just after 4 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle, driven by Juan Diego, 23, of Shelbyville, struck the rear of a parked Honda Civic and pushed it into a tree.
Police say Diego left his cell phone in the driver's seat, dropped his keys at the rear of the vehicle, removed the license plate and then fled on foot to his residence at 235 West Hendricks. Officers later found him there with minor injuries to his head and face.
Diego was transported for medical evaluation and a blood draw for intoxication which came back at .228. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
