The driver who fled from the scene of a crash on U.S. 6 Sunday was arrested by police.
On Sunday at 4:11 a.m., Marshall County Deputies were dispatched to 7910 U.S. 6 Access Road in Bremen for an unknown accident.
Bremen officers were the first to arrive on the scene and advised that a vehicle had struck a guardrail and that no one was around the vehicle.
The driver, who had fled the scene, was later found in Bremen by Bremen Officers and was identified as 26-year-old Jose E. Murillo of South Bend.
An investigation was conducted, and it was found that Murillo was intoxicated. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and possession of paraphernalia. A cash bond of $1,500 was paid Monday at about 9:30 a.m., and Murillo was released on bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
