County Police arrest 2 in seperat invasion of privacy cases

In the past couple of days, officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department have investigated and arrested two individuals in separate cases for invasion of privacy. 

On Friday night, July 5th at approximately 10:40 an officer with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 30 at Oak Road. While conducting the traffic stop the deputy identified the passenger as the owner of the vehicle. A protection order was on file against the driver, 27-year-old Killian Hilliard of Mentone for being with the vehicle owner. Hilliard was taken into custody for the invasion of privacy and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $500 cash bond. 

On Sunday, July 7th at approximately 3:25 in the morning, a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and found the driver had a suspended license.  When the driver called for someone to come and pick up the vehicle and the driver, a passenger in the responding vehicle had a protection order with the initial driver. The passenger, 38-year-old Darlus Easton of South Bend, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
