Councilman Randy Longanecker raised two concerns in his district during the most recent Plymouth City Council meeting, calling attention to an overgrown property at The Pointe and ongoing parking issues on Columbus Drive near the junior league football fields.
Longanecker said the property at the corner of Kingston Road and Gibson Street, owned by RICH-MONS Group LLC and known as The Pointe, needs to be mowed. The city previously paid to have the building on the site demolished, but the lot has since become overgrown.
Longanecker suggested reaching out to the owner or charging him to have the city mow the lot.
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said the city will begin another code enforcement action on the property this week. It was noted that this will be the second time city employees have had to mow the lot.
The second issue Longanecker brought forward involves parking on Columbus Drive during junior league football events. He said parents and other attendees are parking over the walkway on the east side of Columbus Drive, despite the presence of no-parking signs.
Longanecker suggested contacting the Jr. League Football Commissioner to notify him of the issue. If the problem continues, he recommended issuing tickets for the violations.
Some nearby business owners have reportedly blocked off their parking lots to keep football fans from using them because of issues.
