The City of Shelbyville is looking at stricter enforcement of property upkeep by both business and residential owners.
At the same time, the city notes that it's also maintaining the understanding that some owners difficulties in financially doing so.
Mayor Scott Furgeson says passage of the ordinance gives the city more control when enforcing property upkeep.
But the mayor says he knows that some are not in a financial position to handle some repairs or other needed improvements.
Business owners need to be more cognizant of upkeep, particularly mowing.
