The newest full-time member of the Plymouth Fire Department was sworn in Monday night during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Third-generation firefighter, Brandon Smith, was sworn in by Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski while several of the city’s fire responders were in attendance.
Fire Chef Steve Holm said Smith started with the department as a volunteer in 2019, was added to the full-time staff in mid-December, and a few days later, became a dad.
Brandon’s father Brett Smith and his uncle Brian Smith were volunteers with the fire department and his grandpa Wayne Smith was a volunteer, full-time firefighter and fire chief.
Brandon will serve the department as a firefighter/EMT. Following the swearing-in, his wife, Caitlyn pinned his badge on his uniform, while his 3-week-old son Bentley watched, as did Brandon’s grandfather Wayne Smith.
