Lawrence County received visits this week from two sitting members of the U.S. Congress.
Both 12th District Republican Congressman Mike Bost and Illinois junior Senator Tammy Duckworth were on hand to speak with local county and civic leaders about issues of concern.
Bost appeared Thursday, October 8th as part of a tour of southeastern Illinois with stops also in Effingham and Casey, among others. He toured the county with officials with the Lawrence County Industrial Development Council (LCIDC) to the Mid-American Air Center located northeast of Lawrenceville, the city of Sumner, and the Red Hill Raceway located south of Sumner and also spoke with farmers in the Bridgeport area.
Duckworth was in Lawrenceville to discuss help with funding to help with environmental issues concerning the wastewater treatment system. She met with Mayor David Courtney, members of the city council, city employees and concerned citizens on financial opportunities available through the federal government to improve the situation. She also pledged her staffs help in trying to obtain any money which may be available.
