Avon man arrested after high-speed pursuit spanning 2 counties

An Avon man was arrested Friday morning after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit spanning three counties, with officers recovering nearly 200 grams of marijuana and materials intended for distribution.

At approximately 11:54 a.m. on Friday, August 7th, Officer Wallace with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a reckless driver traveling southbound on U.S. 31 near 9A Road. The vehicle was observed traveling at 90 mph in a posted 65 mph zone while weaving through traffic.

During the traffic stop, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Before the vehicle could be searched, the driver, Brian Jackson Jr., 36, of Avon, fled the scene, initiating a pursuit.

Plymouth Police and Marshall County Sheriff's Deputies pursued Jackson south into Fulton County, where deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, disabling Jackson's vehicle. Jackson was taken into custody shortly after his vehicle came to a stop.

A subsequent search of the vehicle by officers located 183 grams of marijuana along with items consistent with the distribution of that quantity.

Jackson was transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged on multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement by fleeing with a vehicle, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, obstruction of justice, aggressive driving, and reckless driving. He was assigned a court date with Marshall County Superior Court III and given a $10,000 cash bond.
