Argos man arrested for OWI after crashing into utility pole

An Argos man was arrested early Friday morning after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole and testing more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

Marshall County Police responded to the intersection of King Road and 11th Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Friday following reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole.

Deputy Wozniak arrived at the scene and located a 1993 Lexus passenger car at the southeast corner of the intersection, resting against an REMC utility pole. The investigation revealed the vehicle had been traveling southbound on King Road when it left the east side of the roadway for unknown reasons and struck the pole.

During the investigation, Deputy Wozniak suspected the driver, Sean M. Janda, 21, of Argos, was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered at the scene.

A subsequent certified breath test showed Janda's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit of .08%.

Following medical clearance, Janda was transported to Marshall County Jail on operating while intoxicated charges.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The extent of damage to the REMC utility pole was not disclosed.
