A 78-year-old man was killed after a two-vehicle car crash in Cass County on Friday.
According to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, multiple calls reporting a two-vehicle crash near State Road 29 at the US 24 ramp onto the Tyson Exchange around 2 p.m. on Dec. 26.
According to reports, a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by Kenneth Miller, 78, of Westpoint, had been heading westbound on the US 24 ramp to SR 29 when he allegedly failed to yield to a 2020 Ford Transit van that was heading southbound on SR 29.
Police noted both vehicles suffered substantial damage. The roadway was closed for a little more than an hour for cleanup and an investigation.
Miller died from his injuries after he was taken to Parkview Logansport Hospital prior to being airlifted to a trauma center in Fort Wayne. Police say Miller’s family has been notified.
The 39-year-old Illinois man who was driving the Ford Transit reportedly refused medical treatment at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
