The Fulton County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that a $1,000 grant from the Ambassador’s Club has been awarded to Akron Elementary School to support early literacy development through the purchase of decodable books.
This funding enabled the elementary school to invest in a new collection of high-quality decodable workbooks, which are specifically designed to help young readers build valuable fluency skills with confidence as they progress through foundational stages of reading development. These resources are already making a difference in classrooms, helping students strengthen their reading abilities across multiple grade levels.
A substantial amount of growth can be seen through improved IREAD scores at Akron Elementary, with a growing percentage of students meeting the appropriate reading benchmarks for their grade.
The Ambassador’s Club, made up of former foundation board members, meets twice a year to award grants to worthy causes in Fulton County. Like many grants, funds for Ambassador’s Club awards come from community funds that are used to make grants that meet the current local needs.
