Juneteenth, the nation’s newest holiday, is a time to remember, reflect, and rejoice in freedom.

On June 21, Shelbyville will host its second Juneteenth Celebration from 11 am - 3 pm at Sunset Park. This event is free and open to the public. The day will include music, activities, food trucks and free snow cones.

This event will open with a City proclamation, followed by the Juneteenth welcome and remembrance. The Juneteenth Celebration Singers will sing at 11:30 a.m., and FunkSway, a R&B group from Louisville, KY, will perform to highlight the day.

The Shelby County Public Library will be on hand with activities. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs, picnics and blankets to enjoy the day. Bottled water will be available.

We are proud to celebrate this important day with the support of amazing community partners and sponsors: Second Baptist Church, God’s Grace International Worship Church, City of Shelbyville Department of Behavioral Health and Equity, Shelbyville Parks Department, Shelby County Public Library, Yushiro Manufacturing America, Shelby County Tourism & Visitors Bureau, Heritage Support Grants provided by the Indiana Historical Society and made possible by Lilly Endowment, Inc.
