Triton Central sweeps varsity doubleheader at Morristown

Triton Central senior Eli Sego scored 12 of his game-high 31 points in the second quarter to help the Tigers pull away from Morristown in the season opener for both programs.

At the Bee Hive in Morristown, Sego helped Triton Central outscore the Yellow Jackets, 20-10, to build a 37-18 halftime advantage.

Sego added two more three-pointers in the second half to complete his game total at five. His 31 points is the beginning of his climb to the top of the Triton Central career scoring leaderboard.

Sego (photo) entered the season with 1,093 points – fourth best in program history. He now has 1,124 points, trailing only Doug Pardue (1,168), Mike Wells (1,281) and Wyatt Felling (1,553).

Jackson Faust hit two 3s in that decisive second quarter and finished with 10 points. Brayden Hoover finished with seven.

Kellen Crim led Morristown with 12 points. Brayden Anderson finished with 11.

Morristown will seek its first win of the season Saturday against Traders Point Christian (0-1).

Triton Central hosts Shelbyville (1-0) Saturday.

A 30-point opening quarter was enough for the Tigers to cruise to the victory in the girls basketball game and move above .500 for the first time this season at 3-2.

Maryrose Felling (photo) scored a game-high 18 points, 12 in the first quarter. Cheyenne Allen finished with 13 points and Quinn King scored 11.

Nine different Tigers scored in the win.

Jayla Keithley led Morristown with 13 points.

The Yellow Jackets (2-5) return to action Tuesday at Hagerstown (3-3).

Triton Central is on the road Tuesday to Rushville (1-5).
