Triton Central tennis did not lose a set in defeating Waldron and Southwestern Saturday in Fairland to capture the Shelby County Boys Tennis Tournament championship.
The Tigers topped Waldron, 4-1, to earn a berth in the finale.
Waldron’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Lucas Shaw and Cash Young bested Connor Evans and Max Crouse, 6-3, 7-5.
Triton Central won all three singles matches. Tucker Hutchinson defeated Charlie Fischer at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Janssen Capps rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jack Fischer at No. 2 singles. And Drayton Kermode stepped into the No. 3 singles role and topped Matthew Thomas, 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Brayden Hoover and Caleb McGuire defeated Lincoln Fischer and Jackson Kuhn, 6-3, 6-3.
Southwestern defeated Morristown, 4-1, in the other semifinal match.
In the championship, Triton Central lost just six games in sweeping the Spartans.
Hutchinson defeated Kyle Beck, 6-1, 6-1. Capps blanked James Oliver, 6-0, 6-0. And Kermode defeated Andrew Pile, 6-1, 6-0.
Evans and Crouse rebounded from their semifinal loss to defeat Jackson Burcham and Chris Cecil, 6-0, 6-1.
Hoover and McGuire won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles over Dave Coulston and Caleb McDonald.
Triton Central improved to 11-1 this season and hosts Waldron again Monday.
