Three from Lawrence County compete at IESA Track and Field State Finals

Parkview 8th grader Ava Cessna finished 4th in the Class 3A girls shot put. She set a new school record with a throw of 9.69 meters (31' 9 1/2") in the process. Braves 7th grader Derek Rodriguez finished 7th in the Class 3A 200-meter finals with a new school-record time of 25.35. He also finished 15th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash and did not qualify for the final. Savannah Fleming of the Red Hill Junior High Miss Salukis was a competitor in the Class 3A 7th grade girls long jump and finished 11th with a leap of 4.49 meters (14' 8 3/4"). Congratulations to those three young athletes on their performances and outstanding seasons.
