Prep Report: Sego breaks Triton Central's career scoring record

Class 2A, No. 7 Triton Central earned no worse than a share of the Hoosier Legends Conference title and senior Eli Sego became the program’s career scoring leader Friday in a 57-45 win over Beech Grove.

The win improved the Tigers to 18-3 (4-0 HLC) and can secure the conference title outright Friday against Speedway (11-9, 2-2). Tri-West (13-8, 4-1) will need the Sparkplugs to secure a road victory to share the title with Triton Central.

Sego entered the game needing 20 points to surpass Wyatt Felling’s career record of 1,553 points. With a fourth-quarter steal and breakaway layin at the rim, Sego took the record. He added six more free throws in the quarter to finish with a game-high 27 points.

Sego is now the eighth-leading scorer in Shelby County history and needs just 10 points to pass Morristown’s Logan Laster for No. 7.
